Church and State must always be separate

A deeply disturbing article by Silja J.A. Talvi, which first appeared in In These Times, on the Character Training Institute and the International Association of Character Cities and the Christian Reconstructionist movement. This is a must read folks:

Cult of Character

What is Christian Reconstructionism?

Moses' Law for Modern Government: The Intellectual and Sociological Origins of the Christian Reconstructionist Movement:

What would a "reconstructed" America look like, K.L. Gentry suggests the following elements of a theonomic approach to civic order:

1 It obligates government to maintain just monetary policies ... [thus prohibiting] fiat money, fractional reserve banking, and deficit spending.

2 It provides a moral basis for elective government officials. ...

3 It forbids undue, abusive taxation of the rich. ...

4 It calls for the abolishing of the prison system and the establishing a system of just restitution. ...

5 A theonomic approach also forbids the release, pardoning, and paroling of murderers by requiring their execution. ...

6 It forbids industrial pollution that destroys the value of property. ...

7 It punishes malicious, frivolous malpractice suits. ...

8 It forbids abortion rights. ... Abortion is not only a sin, but a crime, and, indeed, a capital crime.

I have nothing further to say about this at this time. Form your own opinions and feel free to comment.

I'm completely pro-choice. For myself, abortion would most likey NEVER be the answer. From a religious stand point, we do not accept and or condone abortion- with that being said, not everyone in this world is a Christian.

I have no right to force my moral and/or religious convictions onto another human. It's not for me to decide. I've not walked in their shoes, so I have no idea where they've been and what they've been through. I just don't feel that I have the right to tell anyone else what to do with their body, or that they have any right to tell me what to do with mine.

That's just my two cents :0)

These people, the far-right conservatives, annoy me so badly, I find it hard to think rationally.

What's the Gospel exhortion, judge not lest ye be judged? How about "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?" (Matthew)

I have no issues with people living their own lives according to their own beliefs. But when they try to impose what they believe on others, I start losing; when they interfere in government, I just want to explode.

So, vdofan, I've written several comments regarding these people, but the venom would blind anyone who read it. I posted the article as an alert to others; I've been aware of these, and other similar organizations, for many years. They are cults and people need to be made aware of them.

See, I get so aggravated, I can't even type.

Exhortion = exhortation

losing; should be losing it.

I am a pro-choice liberal democrate. The two things I hate most in this world are intolerance and single mindedness. I embrace pluralism. :)
