The Politics of Snow Removal
Remembering a Snowstorm That Paralyzed the City
In the end, Mr. Lindsay won re-election in the fall of 1969, though his political career — including his switch to the Democratic Party in 1971 and his failed run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1972 — remained troubled.
Equally important, perhaps, the terrible snowstorm of 1969 highlighted how the handling of severe weather is a crucial test for politicians. It is a test that mayors in other cities would fail again and again.

You know that article was weird because I can remember MAd Magazine always made fun of Lindsay.
Not many politicians can say fat Jewish broads..but I'll bet DC's Barry could. He could take out a busload of Nuns and Orphans and still get elected. It certainly doesn't say much for tha average IQ of the DC electorate does it. The Nation's Capitol has the elite politicos and assorted leeches and then a huge underclass.
Is it still the murder capital of the US? Top Ten though right?
It probably is the to murder capital. That goes along with the highest drug rate, highest prison rate... fitting for the nations captial. No wonder Barry kept getting elected!
